Following the 12k service Saga, I am prompted to offer some advice on what-to-do-if-your-bike-is-coming-up-for-a-service. Be very aware of the different staff members in your dealership.
Mr Smarmy Salesman driving his leather cruise climate electric coffee machine satnav 760 freebie to and from his yachting marina is keen on one thing only: his commission for selling a new bike. :deal:
Mr Greasy Spanner the mechanic (sorry, Service Manager) is keen on one thing only: extracting drinking vouchers from your wallet into his till ('Ding' emoticon which doesnt exist).
Mr Smarmy Salesman wants ?1000 plus your 11,000 mile bike for a new one.
Mr Greasy Spanner wants ?1000 from your wallet and what you get back is your old bike plus new tyres plus some shiny new oil.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
The point is, when you have done 11,000 miles, sit and ponder over a :thirsty: whether you should go for a new bike. Go see Mr Smarmy Salesman and just see what sort of a deal he will do. What's the worst that can happen? It may well be a better deal than getting your old one serviced. After all even if the dealer actually does the service it will not cost them the same as they are charging you.
