Dear all,

Following my post in this other thread, I actually think my problems of overheating may come from a worn out camshaft (the exhaust one, I think, was more badly worn than the intake). I'll try to find and post pictures here. At the moment I am in Europe (Romania this month and France in Aug), so I am keen on buying some spare parts (camshaft and camshaft holder) in good condition, to try and see if that fixes my problem. Anyone having those spare parts, please?

Otherwise, what are the usual symptoms of worn-out piston rings or cylinder? That could also be, as my bike has accrued some significant mileage (from year 2000, more than 100,000 km on the clock)...

Thanks in advance!

That doesn't look good!

I have in the past used a business which specialises in metal spraying and grinding cams and boring of heads although I've never had an F650 done.

It might be worth giving them a call and sending them some pictures to see if they can help.

Good luck and if you get a result please post the results.

Yes, get the bearing surfaces reclaimed and reground. You could also see about fitting needle roller bearings to replace the worn aluminium journals but could get the worn bearings bored out and inserts fitted. The lobes may also be damaged but again can be reclaimed

Yeah, thank you mates, but I left the parts in my bike back in Kenya, so I'm looking for some spare parts here in continental Europe (Romania/France), or then I'll have to look for a good engineering place in Nairobi, Kenya, once back from holidays...
