I have just found some mousse like (no I'm not joking) foam stuff inside the oil cap!

it had nearly filled the inside of the cap!
smelt a bit like a weak solution of petrol/ oil.
has anyone else had anything like this? could it be linked to my crappy fuel consumption i have been getting?
cant work it out.

what do you think? is this normal?

thanks

valcon , by foam i presume you mean mayonaise? , it basically means you have some water in your oil , it is quite normal if you only do short trips and the engine doesnt get warm enough for the water (condensation  ) to evaporate . OR it means you have water from the cooling system entering the oil ,probably due to faulty water pump seals.

cheers mike

Hate to be glum, but it could be the head gasket - a known occasional weakspot.
Mine went at 20k. Luckily spotted it early. Easy job. Now 30k and running better than ever.
Hopefully yours is too many short journeys - you know the answer.
Have a great blast! :) !

yeh it is just on the inside of the cap.

one hopes its just a little condensation.

means i should also think about riding more/longer.

have recently changed the coolant and all is well.

thanks
