Hi there,

I would be interested in building a custom light sidecar for my F650GS. The sole purpose of this operation would be to go places short distance with my beloved dog (some 30kg), so I'm just looking for a lightweight design. Plus I am living in South Africa, which means I will probably go for a kind of do-it-yourself solution. Additionally, it would be very nice for the sidecar to be easily detachable. I have seen that: http://s146.photobucket.com/user/reddbarnz/library/Dauntless hack and I'm thinking about something similar. Lightweight means maybe no need for additional/stronger suspension as seen in some other, heavier sidecar projects... Any advice or link? Schematics? Where to attach the sidecar, etc? Thanks!

This guy has a light cheapie which he shows fixed to a Honda step through, and I seem to recall one similar on Oz Ebay fixed to a Funduro.
In the gallery there is one which looks like it being crated for shipping.
Observed trials, which are still popular in Europe, sometimes have a sidecar class and they might be a source of something too

No, I haven't worked on this, honestly, it looked to me like a better option not to spend too much time on it, while getting what one needs, would be to buy another machine, like an Ural side-car. You can ask those guys in SA: Sidecar Africa
