After doing an oil change on my 95 F650 it stripped the thread in the sump I tried a heli coil in it with no luck then started to think how am I going to fix this, after searching around on my garage I found the perfect solution to this problem and for any one else who wants to do the same is...

In an effort to get more hands on and save a bit of money, i have attempted to carry out a oil, air and spark plug change. Apart from an initial bad language attempting to get the spark plugs out the major problem was the sump plug. The plug is stuck fast, and being made of metal softer than a...

Hi, Just replaced the old sump plug with the part from BMW for repairing stripped sumps. Trouble is I now have a slight leak from the new plug. Should the plug which cuts a new thread have had a crush washer fitted. I dont want to over tighten as I fear that I may strip the sump threads...

Not from sadness (although it makes me sad to see it...), but a bit of oil is leaking out of the sump plug when the engine gets hot. I did an oil change a couple of months ago and replaced the copper washers and torqued up properly, but it's obviously not enough. I'm supposed to be popping to...

I know this has been covered to a degree before but...... On my last oil change I finally got the chance to swap over from the standard F650 sump oil drain plug to the oft recommended K90 oil drain plug. It's only when you've got them both in your hand that you realise what all the fuss is...

I finally had a go at doing my oil change the other day. All went fine but I ignored all warnings and suspect that I have overtightened the sump plug. I'm now getting a slow leak from it. I read on the FAQ board that there is a kit to fix this. Has anybody tried it? Are there any other options...

I have a feeling the thread has gone on my sump. I can't do the plug up tight, and when I removed it today I had little bits of thread in the plug's thread. I have now done it up as tight as I dare and it's weeping slightly. (I've tied it up with wire just in case!) Is this a BMW fix it job, or...
