Hi. I am using my 2000 Dakar on the road only. I want to get a little more speed at a lower RPM so I can ride at 120 Km/h without suffering too much vibration. I know there's a 15 teeth pinion for people who want more power. Has anyone heard of a 17 teeth pinion available in the aftermarket? Thanks.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get more top end from my F650CS Scarver?
I need a new tyre and was thinking of fitting 160/70, does anyone know if it will fit. It's fairly close to the swing arm with current, worn, 160/60.
Any options to change belt/sprockets?
Up until this really cold snap my bike ticked over when warm about 1.5k and just under.when its cold (usually when I come to the first junction)
But know when its warmed up its more like 1.7k and 2.3 on cold.start
I never let the bike idle for long when first starting usually 10 seconds or...
Hi chaps :)
I have noticed that my 2000 GS has a miss that comes on at about 100km/h upwards.
When I serviced it recently it got a new spark plug. It has done 30,000km (thats 18,600miles).
What are the most likely (or common) causes for this on the GS??
Hi i am a new owner of a Funduro and i will like to know what is the optimal speed without harming the engine . I read most posts about this thread and i m a litlle comfusing about 70-75 and some others suggesting 90 . Is there any rule of thumb about the optimal revs for top cruising speed...
Has anyone any information about how to make the bike run smoother at low speeds, i.e. the bike gets to 3,000 revs and I change gear from 1st to 2nd and then again at 3,000 it wants to go from 2nd to 3rd and if I don't change gear at 3,000 revs the bike runs lumpy and I end up going faster in...
I've got a ticket for the Festival of Speed at Goodwood that I cannot use ...(the boss wont give me the time off :tears: ) It is for Friday 2nd July 2010.
General admission cost £35 .
I want somebody to be able to use it and they can have it for "free "...... the proviso is that they make a...
Have just taken possession of a F650GS 2006 and never ridden this type of bike before so is totally new to me.
Seems to be idling quite fast at 1500rpm, is this the correct idling speed because even if the engine is cold it still seems to idle at same speed when the choke must be on.
Ok, camping in Salisbury for the weekend while the gf runs a marathon, and noticed something strange en route. Had an empty fast lane in front of me, so I decided to pin the throttle open for a lark. Imagine my surprise when the bike refused to go above 80. Did it again on a downhill stretch and...
I seem to find myself wobbling around a bit on my 94 Funduro at slower speeds, say less than 45mph.
Now I'm not sure if it is me, or just sitting higher up than on my Triumph Daytona 600, the larger front wheel or the fact that the rear tyre is a bit squared off, but I seem to be riding along...
I have a 2000 F650GS (fuel injection). The idle speed is a touch high - initially around 2,000 rpm, then slowly settling to around 1,600. Is there ae easy way to adjust the idle speed? The throttle stop screw on the throttle body seems not to have no means of turning it, which suggests to me...
So I've taken part in numerous debates on this site about maximum cruising speed on the F650 (specifically the older Funduro).
I've always been on the slow side of the debate, saying 75 to 80 is about your lot. However, I've recently fitted a new engine in my bike (G/Box O/P bearing failure) and...
It was good to see the F650 represented at Goodwood at the weekend. Simon Pavey was there riding Charley's Dakar bike. It was a pleasure talking to Simon in the pits. He is doing the Dakar again in January for the 8th time!! This time on a 650 X Trail based bike. I asked him how modified the...
i'd be grateful for some help please.
my f650gs (2000) has recently begun to cut out when coming to a standstill e.g. in traffic or when parking. it doesn't happen all the time - but is intermittent. a dab of the starter button will re-start the engine straight away.
the bike has been...
What do folks find is a comfortable long distance cruising speed for their bikes without overstressing the engine? I suspect that this largely depends on gearing but I would be interested to hear other peoples views.
Does anyone know the distance the sensor has to be from the wheel ring.
cannot find it in the manual just said check gap  where.
searched on chain gang cannot find it there either.
Im getting the old speedo not working symptom spun the back wheel and it worked ok, cleaned it any way...
Before I start experimenting.
Has anyone got any tips on stopping the mirror moving so easily at the joint behind the mirror disc.
It's recently started happening to one at speed - more tales from the heat ?
