Hi there to all, I think this is my first post, although I've had my 03 CS for 18 months or so. First off it's a great bike, which I use to travel 20 miles each way from the se of London to the NW of London. I've been doing the maintenance myself which is cheaper and quite rewarding. Including...

well the time has come to replace my fork seals (and bushes) but the question is what to use as a tool to put the new ones in. I've seen references to a proper tool and home made ones but wondered what people had actually used and what worked. also does anyone know where I could get the...

My 2000 Funduro has only done 19K and has developd a leaking fork seal. I got the forks off but cannot budge the seals. We tried a fair amount of brute force by tugging and slamminmg the fork tube up to the seal , then tried heating and brute force. Still won't budge. It appears that the steel...

When I first aquired my 2004 Dakar last year I had a leaking fork seal. I successfully changed the seals and enjoyed leak free biking for the rest of the year. In the last couple of months I have fitted a 19 inch front wheel from a standard GS as well as Touratech fork protectors and a low...

Can anyone tell me if the clutch actuation shaft seal on a Funduro is easy to replace? Is it just a matter of taking the clutch arm off, pulling the old seal out, and popping the new one in? Or is there more to it than that?

I notice in the FAQ's regarding fork seal change that the "quick method" suggests not dismantling the slider from the fork bottoms but forcing the seal out with a bit of force with the slider in situ (obviously without scratching the slider!). Is this a viable alternative to the full dissassemby...

My right hand fork seal has started leaking again. Only had both seals changed last September (5,000 miles ago) Is it just unlucky or should I take a closer look at the forks. They don't apear to be pitted only slight bit of corrosion which has been there for some time.

Hi, I don't know if anyone has any opinions on this. In this hot weather the bike has been more parked on the side stand than ridden and has had a lot of sun/heat on the forward right hand side. The right lower leg has also been exposed from the bike cover. Would this have any effect on the...

Hi All, It's amazing how this website and that of the Chain Gang gives you the confidence to tackle the jobs on our pride and joys. Took the plunge and decided to replace the fork seals as finance is a little tight. Ordered the bits from Motobins and followed the Chain Gang's instructions and...

If you swap your 21inch Dakar wheel for a 19 incher (from an old funduro or Aprilia Pegaso) there is a slight mis-match.... It all fits fine from a functional perspective, except that because the old wheel has a large hole for a speedo drive, this seal gets no-where near touching the spacer that...
