Helloooooo campers, one question before i embark on changing my water pump seals. Is it better to remove the oil return pipe from a warm engine rather than a cold one. I wouldn't want to strip the alloy threads? Has this happened to anyone on here?:dunno::thumb:

Hi Well I am down to the main shaft drive sprocket... The Clymer Manual says to put a 'soft washer' between the main sprocket and the sprocket of the clutch basket.... then take the nut off... Agghhhh.. is this the only way? Really worried about damaging the main sprocket or clutch...

My Inlet manifold on the carb looks knackered cracked with some superficial splits. I have no problem yet but thought I’d be pro-active and bung a new one in. The Clymer doesn’t tell you how to get this thing out! Any one done it? Do you need to take the carbs and air box out or can you slip...

Can anyone tell me how to get the tumbler/barrel out of the rear lock for the seat? I have had to replace it with a second hand unit and now have to carry two keys. I want to extract the tumber and file the sliders so the original ignition key also fits the seat lock. Also .... anyone got some...

My 2000 Funduro has only done 19K and has developd a leaking fork seal. I got the forks off but cannot budge the seals. We tried a fair amount of brute force by tugging and slamminmg the fork tube up to the seal , then tried heating and brute force. Still won't budge. It appears that the steel...

Finally got around to taking the engine out to replace the gearbox output shaft. Are these clutch drum holding tools any use when undoing the clutch nut? http://www.debben.co.uk/acatalog/cht890.JPG Or am I better making one from old metal clutch plates with handles welded on? If the mole...

Hi, if anyone can help here it would be appreciated.... After kids have been tampering with my funduro, ignition barrel removed (even though it had a huge chain on) & clocks smashed. I have received a new lock set today but am thinking that all I need to swap is the inner barrel, not the whole...

I've decided to replace the gearbox output shaft. I've disconnected all the hoses, wires, Dremmeled and chiselled off the exhaust header nuts, etc. The only bit that looks as if it might be a handful is the swingarm pivot at the rear of the engine. Will it stay put in position or will it...

I've solved my big top-box requirement and am about to bolt the thing on. As it's basically not removable (without spanners) I need another way to get the seat off. The Wilbur mentioned a cunning mod using cable ties but having had a look I've not worked out how to do it. Can't see a good way...

Hi, I have been trying to take of the swingarm on my F650 classic 97 for maintainance and chain removal. I am struggling to get on the bolt/nut holding the Swingarm to the frame at the front. I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong but no Sockets (24mm) that I have found will fit into the...

Just a quick one - When you remove the battery does the computer programme thing (that seems to always be updated at service time by BMW) get lost and default back to factory? Does removing the battery do anything to the computer? F650GS 02 Model. Cheers, Dr J.

Hi All, I took the plunge and had a set of tkc80 fitted on Friday. I took the wheels off myself. When putting the front wheel back on, all was going well until I went to re-fit the clamp screw for the front axle. I noticed that the thread of about half the screw had metal in it. I removed it...

I bought a set of crash bars for the F650 and to fit them you need to remove two bolts that hold the engine in the frame. The first one came out OK but the second one won't move. The nut came off OK but the bolt itself (an allen headed one) won't shift. I tried using a socket allen key and a...

Anybody got any tips on the swingarm remova?l It was all going well, up until we try and remove the axle shaft to do the final swinging arm removal. The hex nut and washer on the right hand side of the bike came off with some persuasion, but the axle shaft seems to still be very stiff and not...
