Hi all you expert guys
I took the bike off the Optimate this morning to go for a ride as the rain has actually stopped and the sun is shining. This is the first time for about a month. The engine turned over about three times, coughed and spat, (the bike not me!) before calling it a day. I...
Giving the bike its winter service and thought i,d give it a treat and install Iridium spark plugs . Usually when you purchase new plugs they come with the gap pre-set but the new ones are at least 3 times the recommended gap .
I cannot find the gap for these plugs...
Got all kitted out to do my first service on my CS since I bought it 6 months ago. It's only got 10800 miles, and has been serviced properly but I wanted to do a full service.
I've discovered that the hole for the torx wrench in the oil drain plug on the frame has been stripped. Can I...
I've had my CS for almost 2 weeks and covered just over 500 miles.
I'm getting used to the smaller bike and finding it great fun.
One worry though. It's not happy below 40 in top gear, is this normal? and at 50-60 it surges when doing a steady speed.

Hey fellas - just another question.
When I was taking the plugs out, I noticed the inner boot (dual spark 04 Dakar) is torn pretty badly.
I looked on a few BMW microfiche sites, but the boot isn't show separately. They only show the complete cover which runs 98US. I thought about just...
Quick question - does anyone know the BMW part number for the alternative sump plug you can use... I believe I have seen posts talking about using a K-Series plug that has a couple more threads on it...
Any help much welcomed.... thanks, Tony.
There are two 30mm dia holes, one each side of the lower engine casing, that contain a nut. On my ST the covers are missing, I cannot find suitable sized blanking grommits, what alternatives are there to buying genuine parts that will probably cost a disproportionate amount of money? Any advice...
Is it me but on the 05 gs it seems such a pain to get the plug caps back on to feel they have gone right on,have i got to take something else of to get more push down? have removed snorkel and all the fairing any tips apreciated
In an effort to get more hands on and save a bit of money, i have attempted to carry out a oil, air and spark plug change.
Apart from an initial bad language attempting to get the spark plugs out the major problem was the sump plug.
The plug is stuck fast, and being made of metal softer than a...
On my2001 650 GS there is a plug on the left side of the engine. It is a BMW power take off plug .
Does this plug work with the key's out of the bike or do you have to have the bike switched on ????????
Just got some DR8EIX plugs nice and cheap on eBay, but having managed to get them into the bike, I've realised that their tips aren't the same as the originals - these are very thin (like for my chainsaw and lawnmower, in fact), where are the BMW ones look more like grease nipples.
Just replaced the old sump plug with the part from BMW for repairing stripped sumps. Trouble is I now have a slight leak from the new plug. Should the plug which cuts a new thread have had a crush washer fitted. I dont want to over tighten as I fear that I may strip the sump threads...
Hi, I have been reading about 'freeze plugs' on the chain gang website (FAQ) Does anybody know where I can buy them in the UK? I have searched on the web for 'universal sump plug', 'Freeze plug' and even the company name of the guys that make them - with no luck! Any help would be good... cheers!
I wanted to remove the spark plug but couldn't figure out how to do this easily.
The spanner provided doesn't fit because of a rubber sleeve on the plug -and in any case it looks it would be hard to get turning.
I couldn't tell if the plug would be easier to remove from the top after...
