Well Brunhilda failed the MOT today. Not just a fail but "Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects)"
You are probably visualising brake pads worn out, fluid pouring onto the discs, bald tyres etc. Not so. It was an intermitent stop light. Light stayed on then stayed off. Despite a...
There is a definite centre notch on my steering head bearing. It has not adversly affected handling while riding around and has not gotten any worse but the MOT is due in a couple of months and I'm wondering if it will result in a fail. Has anyone put their bike through an MOT while a similar...
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a good place in Brighton area for my upcoming MOT? Also any needed fixes.
I live within a mile of Chandlers the very upmarket BMW agent but wondered what peoples experience of them is.
Many thanks. Bob
Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum.
I failed the Spanish MOT (called ITV) because I do not have the EC certificate of the Remus exhaust pipes.
I have a 2003 BMW F650GS I bought in the UK where I used to lived. I live in Spain now, and to register the bike in Spain I havce to pass the an...
Isn't it a nice feeling when the man from the ministry says 'I can give that a pass' and your pride and joy has another year on the road. It's even better when he says 'Thats a nice bike you have there. Look after it'......oh yeh :-D . Tax and insurance now!
For all you rich people...
More specifically my front lights - the small sidelight bulb is lit with ignition +lights on, but I don't have high or low beam. Brake lights working fine. Headlight bulb out, looks fine; fuses - ok. Switch in the throttle side grip maybe? Is this take-apartable by me? Any suggestions? Off I go...
I found out this morning that I have no horn. I`ve taken the side panals off and the front mudguard. The last green/purple and brown wires well connected to the wiring loom. All other electrics to that fuse work and the switch is clean and rust free. :-)
So, i`m now gonna delve into...
my 2004 Dakar just failed its MOT on rear pads, rear tyre tred depth and the offside rear wheel bearings are loose,
-what decent pads should i go for?
-what tyres should i run? i will replace both at the same time, i was thinking Metzeler Tourance, but what sizes?
-and what can i do...
Whilst fiddling around with my front end I think that I might have inadvertently adjusted the level of the scarver headlight. Does anyone know what level it should be at - I assume it's the same as doing car ones - park a certain distance from a wall and measure the beam etc?
Simple really, but I have no experience of this -
I have a Remus can on my CS with the baffles still in, road legal. Do I need to put the original can on for the MOT test? I have read that any replacement exhaust should not be SIGNIFICANTLY louder than the original, but its up to the MOT tester...
I had to share this and vent my frustration at letting other people meddle with my bike.
My 04 GS went in for it's MOT on Saturday and failed on SHB, sticky caliper and loose chain. The SHB wasn't a surprise, the bikes felt a bit twitchy lately and I suspected as much. The bike's been sitting...
:-( the 95 funduro failed its mot today. bottom bush play on the rear shock.its where the shock attach itself to the swing arm. ive ordered the parts. [£20 off bmw motorworks] these have to be pressed in. may i ask if anyone has done this job and what tools do i need. is it a easy job?
Well yes took the bike for its MOT and yes it failed
Failed on the following points::
1. Rear suspension movement excessively stiff.
2. Front Wheel Bearings are excessively rough.
Anyway have ordered wheel bearings so hopefully that will sort the front wheel.
What do you suggest for...
Never been in this position before, but does anyone know of a quality and trustworthy MoT site for my 04 GS ?
I live in Crawley so a 15 - 20 mile radius out from Gatwick would be good, anyone got any recommendations ?

Hello again. My F650 has been in for test today and failed...
"Rear rear shock absorber has inadequate damping effect".
Now, the shock I have in is not an original so what would a new BMW part cost me (+ fitting) or are there any decent (cheaper than BMW) alternatives?
Also, apparently the...
I passed my DAS one hour ago!!!! *tears up L plates whilst swigging from a can of lager*
I've been lurking for a while, but thought I'd hold off posting until I passed.
Originally I had my eye on a 650 GS, but I got offered a CS at such a great price I would have been a...
My bike recently failed the MOT due to a bald rear tyre among other things. The center tread was worn right down. After checking the history I keep it covered 9,400 miles. My brother thinks that it should have survived longer and that I have too much pressure in them. I know the pressure is...
My yellow peril is out of MOT, and in a shed in the Lake District.
Anyone know of the nearest MOT tester-I need it done on Saturday, when I intend to re-import to Heckmondwike (Loobman very impressive on the way there, having just fitted it!) ?
