Just a bit of a rundown of what I've had to do to my Dakar - I'm a short guy, so it was a touch high for me.
I took the seat to an upholsterer near me, and they scooped out a bunch of foam and put new fabric on (new fabric wasn't part of the original quote but he didn't charge me...
The title says it all really. I have a BMW lowered seat on my 08 F650GS twin. Uncomfortable as hell after 30 minutes. Looking to hear back from any members that have after market seats (if lowered, even better).
Hi everyone, been a lurker here for a while, great site with nice members. After some research bought a 2008 K72 F650GS with only 2,000 Km's up for my wife, with a lowered seat. VERY impressed with the quality of the ride, what a fun bike! It gives you loads of confidence from the off. (I have a...
I know my bike was bought from new with a 'low seat' option.
I'm trying to determin if that's all was done or if the whole bike was lowered by BMW.
Does anyone have as lowered bike here who could possibly help me with some measurments?
Length of forks, suspension etc.
Bike is an 04 twin spark factory lowered f650GS. I'm looking to replace the shock absorber.
Question - do I have any option other than the standard BMW part. I believe the shock on the lowered model is shorter than that on the standard GS and the aftermarket shock firms don't seem to...
My 04 F650GS seems very low, I'm wondering if it has factory lowered kit and how do you tell? Doesn't bother me that much - the seat is low and I'd like to get the higher one at some point. Only other consideration is the ground clearance... What's needed to 'Dakar-ise' the GS? Might think about...
Any help or pointers gratefully accepted!
Apparently my GS had been factory lowered, but the sidestand hits the road a bit to early. Does anyone know how to confirm it has been factory lowered, not just an incomplete retro lowering.
All the suspension links look original and the side stand is...
I am possibly going to look at a CS advertised here as 'lowered'. If this is the factory one, does anyone know what was done? Is it a revised link or what. And can it be reverted to standard easily?
For those of you on the look out (Numpty Senior ?) - there is a "Factory Lowered" GS for sale on Ebay:
I looked for a factory lowered 650GS as my first bike without sucess and ended up buying a lovely 6 year old Ducati Monster. This is obviously a bit taller than I would have liked and despite setting the rear as low as the standard suspension will allow and letting the forks through I...
My wife is doing her DAS training and wants to ride my GS! But mine has the Dakar seat and is too tall. She's 5'4'', and can just get the balls of her feet on the floor, but this isn't stable enough for her. I've read about the normal seat being lower than the one I have, and also the...
I've just lowered my '97 Funduro to make it easier formy slightly shorter missus to commute on - just a bit more confidence in heavy traffic needed.
Neither of us is particulerly heavy as we're both pretty short but the bike does bottom out frequently with just one of us on it.
Just parted with hard earned money for a GS from a gsxf, very happy with the mature riding position and build quality, the bike I've purchased has a lower ride height which was ideal for the previuos owner but for a 6'2 eyes of blue blonde hair..........sorry drifting...
I am looking to lower an 97 F650ST, I have seen the BMW lowering kits and wondered if these were just for the 'Funduro' or can these be used for the ST also ?
P.s Does anyone know of any hard luggage available that fits this model ?
I've just found this site - very interesting!
I've had my '98 F650ST for nearly 2 yrs, love riding it but work really gets in the way :-(
My bike is lowered and also has a low seat (I'm only little!) but after riding for a few hours me knee starts really aching. How much bigger...
Anybody have experience of a lowered strada (or any F650 for that matter).
My wife (5 foot) is wanting (or should that be needs!) to ride a lowered bike in order for her feet to touch the floor. Any ideas or experiences gratefully received
