Can anyone tell me which way round the drive sprocket (Engine end) should go, With the raised lip facing the engine or with it facing out. It seems daft but I cant remember which way round it should go. I blame the wife for yelling at me to come in for lunch. Many thanks.

I have a 2004 F650CS. At the rear end of the swing arm, either side of the adjuster screw are two pinch bolts. These seem to periodically work loose. The first time I noticed this was after a 2500 mile trip abroad, when one bolt fell out. The bike had it's 12000 mile service prior to the trip...

Hi Well I am down to the main shaft drive sprocket... The Clymer Manual says to put a 'soft washer' between the main sprocket and the sprocket of the clutch basket.... then take the nut off... Agghhhh.. is this the only way? Really worried about damaging the main sprocket or clutch...

Just had the forks off my fubduro 96 to fit a pair of gaiters, when refitting front wheel/speedo drive the Clymer states line up the notches of speedo drive to notches in the wheel hub. The book is a Vauge on how to do this and does not show any diagrams, I've fitted it all back how I think but...

Can anyone just confirm the standard drive chain size for my 2000 GS so I know I am looking for the right one, I have standard chain and sprockets, so Is this right size 520 X 112 ? I know you should replace the sprockets as well but they are not bad at all and will certainly see this year...

Any advise from the CS owners out there? In the last week my bike has got coverd in brown dirt, so much so my wife thought my exaust had gone rusty in the road salt, until I wiped it off with my hand, so I'm going to clean it tomorrow. Anyway, what I was wondering was, is there anything I...

Hey again Following on from my last topic, it seems the nut that holds on the front sprocket has disappeared. I have checked the Motobins and Wemoto websites but cannot find one. Any idea where I can find one ??? Cheers :howdy:

I have a 2004 F650CS which has done 12000 miles and has a hole in the belt drive. Looks like a stone has picked up on the pulley wheel and punctured a small hole in the belt. It's not a distinct hole, the material has been pushed up and punctured. It's about 2mm wide and fairly central on the...

Guys, working on an F650CS, 2003, belt drive. How is the belt tension adjusted ? Though it's already a low seat model, we need to lower it even more for a very short rider. I'm thinking this means longer links between the triangular pivot at the bottom of the shock and the swinging arm. Anyone...

my '05 dakar has always had a bit of what i assumed was the well known surging problem. but recently it seems to be getting worse (unless it's my imagination) and i just thought i'd check that it is what i thought it was. symptoms are lumpy power delivery when at steady or slowly changing...

I think mine is totally worn. I've just made my way back from northampton after spending the weekend at the Renault World Series at silverstone, on the way there my chain was much too loose so after 60 miles had to adjust it and once I got back it now seams much too tight and the drive chain...

What is it about other BMW owners and this fixation with Shaft drive ? If its not shaft drive its not a proper BMW they say. We have two shaft drive BMW's in our household an 1100GS (90,000miles) and a K1200LT(40,000). The GS is now on its 3rd Final Drive Main Bearing and the LT has just failed...

I heard a rumour that BMW are working on turning the F650 into a shaft drive bike. This was not down the pub at 2 am, but at a bike show. I know there is always a lot of talk, but look what happened. They talked of a 1200 GS, a 1200GS ADV, an HP2, an HP1, an F800, a more off-road orientated...

Hello, I have been trying to pull together a tool kit and via the FAQ site and previous posts, it seems that most can be done using a 1/4" drive, but that a larger is necessary for wheel nuts and the sump plug (plus a couple of the 10mm hexes). My question is: for nuts such as 24mm, is a 3/8"...
