Check charging rate / voltage first.
Not clutch mech causing issue
Did you have the cable in the right position on the pulley ?
Can not attach pic but it has 2 possible positions use the smaller cam.
As you have the side off disconnect the throttle cable from throttle body and start it - is the idle still high ?
to confirm not a issue from cable side.
side stand switch , plug in gs911 or get diagnostics read.
Those shims as you call them are standard anti squeal washers.

Are you sure it the ABS kicking in and not warped disc or caliper issue ? causing pulsing brake lever.
But you did say it is ok with ABS off so possibly not the above.

Set main idle screw to get an idle speed --- adjust each air idle screws to get best rpm rise. then back off idle screw.

My BMW manual shows 4
Ign/ECU (Ignition control unit)
Red to red (comes from kill switch) (live feed via (red/black)7amp fuse box)
Black to brown (ground/earth to frame)
Before buying any parts for later twin spark bikes they are different 2mm dia - check the diameter.
Have a read before buying anything what software are you running ?
do a leak down test should point to problem , -- rings or valves , gsk . before taking apart.

Vapour lock in petrol tank ? not letting fuel in carbs caused by engine heat or blocked tank vent .
But re-reading your last post would say over-fueling as you do not need choke when cold.
