Hi
I have just found that the carbon filter housing is loose and just held in place by a frame bracket.
The manual and parts diagram only show the retaining screw, but not where and how it fits.
Does anyone know if a new screw can be installed without lifting / removing the rear subframe?
cheers
Jeff

I've been trying to understand how the charcoal filter is fitted. From what I can see, it pushes up into a tunnel in the LHS of the fuel tank from below and is held in position by a small bracket. I assume this small bracket is screwed into the petrol tank rather than the rear sub-frame but what I can't work out is whether the retaining screw shown in the parts diagram holds the bracket on to the petrol tank or screws through the bracket into the filter housing. I assume it is more likely to be the former.

You mention the filter appears to be held in place by a frame bracket but I'm not sure this is the same small bracket as in the parts catalogue. You certainly need to raise the rear sub-frame to get the charcoal filter out but can you get at the retaining screw without doing the same?

Jeff. I assume you would need to raise the rear sub-frame with the petrol tank still attached by removing the lower fixing bolts on either side and then pivoting on the upper bolts? Rather than going to the trouble of fabricating another bracket, I'm sure you could pack the underneath of the charcoal filter with some form of foam so that it rests more securely against the frame?

Glad you sorted it! I have to admit that until you mentioned your problem I wasn't aware that the charcoal filter was mounted underneath the tank in the way it was. For most people it is probably a question of 'out of sight, out of mind' - at least, until the little bracket falls off!
