Hi Ton,
done that also- turned the rear wheel around in 2nd gear, untill the cam completed four revolutions.
I'm going to return the shims and get my old ones back, put them back in and see whether I get my 009 clearance back just to rule out shim problems.
Regards,
Rob

It wouldn't surprise me that these shims aren't flat or damaged somehow. Haven't had anything like this before with shims but I can imagine that you are getting a bit p..... off with it right now. Most important thing is to stay calm I am convinced that you will see it when you remove the shims.

Hi Ton,

Good news- The valve shims from the second hand dealer were marked - up wrong!!!
They were marked ***8211;up as being 2.85 when in fact they were 3.00, hence no valve clearance.
Correct shims are now in place along with new cam adjuster and the motor sounds sweet.
Thanks to those of you whom replied to my post during my hour/s of need.
Many Thanks,
Rob.

Glad you got there in the end, invest in a micrometer for the future! Can be a inexpensive tool to buy…

Oops but from your previous mail I had read that they had been checked with a micrometer.
Glad you have it sorted now. I suppose you mean 2.65mm ?
