    Default Rear brake failure

    2004 f650 Dakar with ABS.

i was out today on the bike and went to apply the rear brake. The pedal sunk all the way down, no pressure, no braking. There was no fore warning of anything wrong.

im guessing it's the master cylinder. If you agree, can this be rebuilt or do I need a new one. Any issues rebleeding due to the ABS.

    thanks
    Jon

Probably master cylinder, fluid leaking anywhere ?
Brake hose can get tired, balloons when pressure applied, especially if original, replace with steel braided when replacing.
Rear calipher seals can fail can, fluid leaking would be a sign ?
Check if fluid in matsre cylinder, if so and no resistance when brake applied, then seals likely shot, water get in when rubber boot damage, corrodes cylinder, or seals just worn?
Dismantle to check , seal kit usuually works, unless badly coroded,
Check FAqs for more info, including repair, bleeding.
Long shot, but if all ok, then ABS maybe issue, very rare !

My rear pedal on dakar did the same, for me was a case of dirty oil, as for bleeding with abs, it seems to make no difference, just bleed the old fashioned way.... Been doing myself for 8 years now, with no problems and abs still working as intended.
